Home secretary lays out five-point plan to implement recommendations of independent review
Priti Patel has promised a more compassionate, “putting people first” approach to immigration in the wake of the Windrush scandal, as part of plans to implement the recommendations of an independent review into Home Office failures.
While Labour welcomed the home secretary’s response to the Wendy Williams review, it said the government lacked credibility on the issue, and queried the slow pace of compensation payments to those wrongly targeted for immigration enforcement.
