The near-identical prices charged at Coles and Woolworths raises competition concerns, according to the agricultural sector, as scrutiny over the major chains intensifies after the release of government-funded grocery comparisons.

Research conducted by consumer group Choice found there was less than a one dollar price difference in a basket of groceries, containing 14 common items including apples, bread, milk and cheese, bought at both supermarkets.
