A man accused of murdering his estranged wife after she asked for a divorce claims he acted in self-defence after his victim came at him with a knife “in her murderous rage”.

Nelomie Perera was found in a pool of blood in her kitchen with 35 separate injuries, after Dinush Kurera, 47, allegedly killed her in front of their children in December 2022, the supreme court in Melbourne has heard.
